Some say that travelling makes relationships stronger and that's something I agree with with all my heart.

Every year, Marv and I plan a week-long out-of-town trip for only the two of us. Although we see each other everyday, we still long for vacations that allow us to talk, bond over a couple of beers, and do crazy things.

Our first gettaway was in Boracay back in 2008 and this was Marv's first major out-of-town trip without his family. 3 years later, we felt the need to go back to island and rekindle everything that happened during our first visit.

I got the chance of scoring piso airfare tickets to Caticlan via SeaAir and used up some of my mom's PAL Mabuhay Miles for our flight back. We were psyched for our 5D4N vacation in Boracay and unlike all of our other travels, we did not create a hardcore itinerary and instead, only made a list of what we wanted to do while we were there.

With the birthday boy

Here's what our list looked like:

  • Cliff diving
  • Parasailing
  • Island-hopping
  • Chill at the beach
  • Drink 'til we drop

And I'm glad to say that we were able to tick off everything on our list in a span of 5 days with the help of FAT wallets (ya know what I mean). Since Marv was celebrating his silver year in Boracay, we have saved for this trip so that budget won't be an issue when we go there -- minsan lang naman.

Hence, this post won't provide you a Boracay itinerary but just some suggestions on what activities to do when you're there aside from partying 'til dawn -- this will serve as a Boracay photoblog for Marv's 25th birthday!

After weeks of rain, we were welcomed by the sun in Boracay!

Marv at Ariel's Place while waiting for our boat

The package is inclusive of buffet lunch & unlimited softdrinks and booze. We started our day right with rhumcoke.
Don't think, just jump!

Marv's turn! Took him a while to go to the plank heehee.

Haha my favorite part

And we met some friends there. Thanks to JB de Leon for this photo.
And this one too.

Boracay's magnificent sunset greeted us when we got back from Ariel's Point

Parasailing which we got for PHP 1,100/pax (originally PHP 2,500/pax)

Met Regie & saw our old friend, Archie, who owns the front beach inn that we always stay in

Reunited with old friend, Archie, & also met new friends: Regie, Florence, & their baby, Enzo
Celebrating Marv and Regie's birthdays
And this is the part where Marv goes DOWN! Hehe.

Regie invited us to go island-hopping. Hope this made Marv's hung over go away.

Tried the famous calamansi muffin in Real Coffee on our last day
Almost missed our flight

It was a pretty expensive trip but knowing that Marv enjoyed his bday celebration / vacation & getting the chance to see Archie again made it all worth it.

People say that there's something about Boracay that makes you want to go back over and over again. And despite rapid commercialization, Boracay will always have a special part in my heart. I fell in love with the place, its people, and the memories that Marv and I created there. And no matter what people say about it, I'll never get tired of going here. Never.

But perhaps not during LaBoracay hehe.
