I'm not fond of going to hotels or resorts, especially expensive ones. People who know me will agree with me when I say that I'm more of that camping / inn / homestay / pension house / lodge kind of girl. I don't believe in paying so much for accommodation when I'm only there to sleep and bathe. When I travel, I check out as many beaches / tourist areas as I can and return to the hotel only at night to rest.
But every time I go home to Bohol (yes, it's our province, it's where my father grew up), it's a different story. Perhaps because we always stay at Mommy's (our grandma) house and no longer have to pay for accommodation, I can afford going back and fort to Panglao Island for resort- / hotel-hopping.

There are numerous resorts in Panglao Island, from inns to exclusive 5-star hotels but every time I'm in Bohol, I always make sure I visit my favorite resort, Panglao Island Nature Resort and Spa.
But only for a day trip as I cannot afford an overnight stay plus I'd prefer to go home and spend time with my relatives.
The resort is a 15-minute drive away and nearer to the town compared to the famous Alona Beach. For PhP550 per head, one can already avail the day tour package and enjoy the resort's amenities for a full day. Out of that PhP550, PhP400 is consumable for food in Cafe Luisa, the resort's restaurant, which serves Filipino, Chinese, and continental cuisine. Food was quite expensive (Php350-400 per meal) but the servings were somehow big. The PhP800 consumable amount for the both of us allowed us to order both lunch and meryenda.
For 10% service charge (will be deducated from the PhP400 consumable amount), one can choose to dine inside the restaurant, at the pool bar, or in their al fresco area with a magnificent view of their infinity pools, the ocean, or its islet. Meanwhile, a 20% service charge is required if guests wish to dine at the beach area. Because of the service charge, management discourages guests to give tips.

What I like the most about this resort are its infinity pools. I think they have 3 infinity pools and one jacuzzi with a "waterfall". I'm a fan of beaches and I don't usually like swimming pools but what they have in Panglao Island Nature Resort are so beautiful! Infinity pools are like blue waters that know no boundaries. I immediately jumped in when I saw it and forgot to apply sunblock :(

Marv and I usually spend most of our time in the pool whenever we're there just because it was always so pretty, inviting, and relaxing. We would spend hours talking while looking at the ocean and islet below. Another reason why we prefer the pool is that because the resort only has a tiny beach area. Too bad because the sand was fine and very white.

They have a few loungers / lounge beds but they aren't exactly the comfortable kind as these are made out of plastic. And since the beach area has no shade, the chairs usually absorb the extreme heat of the sun. Deck chairs beside the pool are made out of wood and are adjustable so most of the time, people just stay there.

It's better to stay there or swim in the beach in the morning when the current is not that strong and the ocean and shore are not filled with seaweeds yet.

When Marv and I first went there in 2009 with our cousins, we swam to the islet. The resort also provides life jackets in case there are guests who want to go there. Staff told us that some weddings usually take place on the islet.

We no longer went to the islet when we last went to Panglao Island Nature Resort and just decided to swim in the beach or enjoy the pool, especially that it was our last full day in Bohol. But I'll share with you photos we took during our 1st visit (used to be PhP450 for a daytour package).
Some may think that the resort does not have that much to offer. But for people like me who are suckers for infinity pools, white sand, and blue waters, the PhP550 day tour package is already pretty worth it!
I hope management will be able to maintain the place and keep it clean because a visit to Bohol won't be complete without going here.
