BOOK ROTATION. Back in February, I would have stared at you with an extremely blank face when you'd mention the words "book rotation" to me. Because why the heck would I rotate our books when I'm spending so much money in local book stores and hoarding so many items during the Big Bad Wolf sales. Why would I want to hide some of them?
Well, it's been 7 months since the community quarantine was declared which forced all of us to stay inside our houses for our safety. And because of this house arrest, I had so much time in my hands to organize and declutter our room and Summer's play area, where her book shelf is in.
Now, it's already October and I've noticed that Summer's into rhyming words these days. So it was time to put all our space, planet, and human body books to "sleep" while books with rhymes come out to play.
DR. SEUSS CLASSICS
When one says books containing words that sound alike, my top-of-mind collection isn't something about serious poetry. Because for me, the best children's books for rhymes are Dr. Seuss titles, of course!
Summer absolutely loves the classics, she thinks these are hilarious, but her favorite ones are The Cat in the Hat and Green Eggs and Ham. The latter even helps me convince her to eat new types of food that she's not familiar with. If you know the story, you'll understand what I mean 😃
Where to buy: I usually get these classics from various local book stores, I'm fine buying preloved books because these are cheaper. I saw a lot of these titles during my last trip to Book Sale during the pandemic. But I saw that Bookery for Kids and Mums has these titles.
THE CAT IN THE HAT'S LEARNING LIBRARY
Where to buy: I got all four titles from Book Sale during multiple trips. But it will certainly be a struggle to find a lot of these pieces. Again, Bookery for Kids and Mums has the entire set while My Little Genius PH sells these individually.
KINDERMUSIK BOOKS
Summer used to be enrolled in Teacher Jeannie's Kindermusik class when she was a year old. These titles are included in the tuition fee. These are rhyming books also since Teacher Jeannie turns them into songs. Our little family would sing the words instead of just reading it.
It's included in our current book rotation since I've noticed that Summer has been pulling out pieces that had real people so these items are here. It's a bonus that these also have rhymes! 😅
Where to buy: We got ours from the class kit that Teacher Jeannie distributes every semester, it comes with a small musical instrument as well. I think these books can be purchased individually from Kindermusik.
CHRISTMAS TITLES
And because we're Filipinos and we celebrate Christmas here as early as September 1, these pieces are included in this rotation. The Bears' Christmas is the only one in the photo that has rhymes 😅 I just threw in Hurry, Santa! to bring in the holiday spirit. One of Summer's first love is the Berenstain Bears so reading one with entertaining rhymes is definitely a treat.
Where to buy: We got these two from Book Sale during separate book strips. But check out Bookery for Kids and Mums or My Little Genius if they still have this title. Meanwhile, here's an Amazon link for Hurry, Santa!
